If one looks back less than a career lifetime in medicine the only radiological investigation available to the rhinologist was the plain x-ray. Indeed it could be said that at that time no such thing as the sub-specialist rhinologist existed. It is as a consequence of developments in imaging and the integration of this imaging information with the adoption of endoscopic techniques that the sub-specialty has evolved.
